Biketronics stereo problem
Mine was the Song CDX-GT640UI from BikeTronics.
Did the shop wash your bike when they worked on it? I have a Biketronics set up and have been through 3 Sony stereos. They can't handle water at all. I don't even have a head unit right now. My last stereo lasted a few years but I always had a XL surgical glove that I would stretch over the head unit when i thought it might get wet. It worked but what a pain in the ***. if i were going to run this set up again I would buy the cover for the stereo. BTW you can find Sony head units on e-bay for under $80. Don't buy them from Biketronics or you will go broke.
Ive had my Biketronics setup now for about 1 1/2 yrs....no problems to date...(knock on wood). I havent had any trouble getting the shield to stay in place. Most of the time, I have trouble getting it OFF...it does fit rather tight.
When I wash it, leave it sitting outside overnight (only when Im on the road), or even have the slightest thought that it might rain....the cover goes on. Biggest drawback to the cover being on is I lose the use of my thumb drive with MP3s. I try NOT to leave it on all the time though. My workshop, being just a portable building, gets rather cool @ night. Once in a while, Ive had my speedo and tach 'fog up' just from rolling it out the building.
