Default Do you carry gas

I'm planning a trip thru Nv. Ut. and Az. never carried gas before but there's some pretty desolate areas where I'm headed. Thinking of a gallon in my tour pak if it won't stink everythig up

No need to carry gas. I have been through all the states you mentioned with only a four gallon tank (1986 FXRD) and had no problems.

I keep and MSR bottle of gas in my left saddlebag. It has saved the day 5 times now. Gladly never myself needing the saving. Never had an issue, bottle stays cool in my bag, I give it a shake before pouring into tank, and I change the gas in it every couple of months or so. Holds 30oz.

Yup ditto on the MSP Bottle. Works great and won't leak as long as the top is tight. No odor either!

I carry an extra 30 oz of premium in an MSR Fuel Bottle. Also hav a 20 oz version. Never needed it myself but have helped others out on more than one occasion. I figure it's good for an extra 10 miles.

Another solution to ease your concerns might be to carry a small manual siphon pump and some octane booster.

I've been is some of the most desolate places you can find in the states over many years. I've ridden every state except Hawaii. The only time I carried fuel was my trip to Alaska. I came close to needing it only once and that was in the Northern Territory of Canada above the Yukon. I have never had a problem in any of the states, including Alaska. Use some common sense, if you think it's going to get desolate, stop and top off. In Alaska I made it a point to look for fuel whenever I hit about half a tank. Save the room for something else.

All the people that replied as carrying extra gas never needed it for themselves. But, they indicated that it was always helpful for others. Is there a moral here?

I was already planning on stopping at EMS to pick one up tonight. In the picture do you have the 30 oz can in your bottle holder?

Those bottles look good to me, ordered 2 -30 oz, had my speedo count down to 10 mi to empty last year. Good enough reason for me, besides if I have it I won't need it like my air compressor and plug kit
