Default Trans oil capacity on 2010 Street Glide

Finished 500 mile break in on the wife's SG. Changed fluids the manual states 1qt in tranny. After putting in one Qt the dipstick reads on full line when it suppose to be between the low and fill marks Is 1qt what evryones using? I put in a little over 3/4 but it did not even reach the halfway put thus I did the recommended 1Qt of Redline. I'm thinking the stuffs so thick it hasn't settled yet. Thanks

There is a dry fill (after you rebuild the tranny) and maintenance fill. I would go with the 3/4 qt to start with because it will have residual after draining, you just can't get it all out.

I did the same thing and overfilled. You can smell it on a hot day if it is overfilled. Had to get a suction gun from Advance Auto parts and suck some out. I keep mine on the lowest mark and when the engine oil temp is up to normal operating temp (around 230-240 degrees) it is right on the full mark.

Good luck, takes a couple of times to figure out the oil levels.

I also know the bike engine oil is only 3.5 qts cold, anything more than that it will blow it out when hot. The 3.5 level is also on the full mark hot.

1 full quart for me, no problems. Right on the full mark is good. Don't screw the dip stick in when you check.

Thanks.............the manual says between the full /low marks. Its on the full line and maybe that's where I'll keep it Im using Redline Heavy so maybe when the bikes been run a while it will go down as the Reline clings so good.

Default Fluid checks

Didn't see this mentioned but my 2004 RG manual says the engine oil is to be checked on the jiffy stand and the transmission oil is to be checked with the bike level. Joe
