Wood TW6-6 TW-555 Cam Dyno Test by Fuel Moto
#21
Ok, got the +4 gear installed. We then took the bike for about a half hour ride, checked the fuel trims with the Auto Tune and put in on the dyno to test it. We made a few tweeks to the map on the dyno however there were no signifigant changes required and this was verified in the Auto Tune trim table which in most cells did not change from the base map. For those of you not familiar with exactly what the +4 advance gear does, it is a replacement cam drive gear that will advance the cam timing globally 4 degrees both intake & exhaust. It does not require pulling the cams to replace, only the exhaust and cam cover. In theory, an earlier intake valve event timing will produce torque earlier in the RPM range, the effects on advancing the exhaust cam are slighly less predictable. What we found today is that at least with the combination we are testing that there was only a very slight difference with the +gear as peak #s were within 1Hp/1Tq. While with the +4 gear it does make torque earlier it is only slight, without it peak Hp is up slightly. Not a signifigant change in any way.
Either way the TW6-6 is a awesome cam with proven results on our dyno many times over, a truly excellent all around cam. The combination on this 96" bike pulls like a freight train from down low and makes over +95 TQ 2700-5250 RPM!

I have the HD SE book in my hand and those numbers are quit a bit better than a stage II 103 SE kit! The HP at 6 grand is 75 and torque is 65.The TW6-6 is a lot flatter than the SE. The SE 103 is way to the left and falls sharply. It starts a bit higher but thats it. Thanks for eliminating any idea of using any SE product.

Jamie,
As always, you guys are a class act and are willing to go the extra mile with product testing and sharing of info. I installed the TW6-6 with the map Keith sent a few weeks ago before Sturgis and I have nothing but good things to say. I was very suprised by the smoothness of the map and power delivery when you want it. Have a friend with a 2010 SESG with Stage 1 setup that kept taunting me on the way back from Needles Highway. Not only did the new setup give him a run for his money, but I pulled away from him at full throttle. I had no idea until we stopped and he was raising hell at the next red light. Looking forward to seeing the 555 info. Good luck to you and continued success with your company. I will be ordering at least 2 more sets of cams for my dad's 03 and a buddy's 05 in the next month or two as they both were believers in your products and tuning. Thanks again.

WOW.... I am really surprised at how LITTLE difference the +4* actually makes to the overall TQ curve.... I was expecting it to push more to the left than what it did.
Not sure what "ridibility" changes were noted.... but just going on the Dyno chart, I would say that there is no real massive gain from adding the 4* adv. JMHO.
*** FWIW... I bet there would be a more sig diff noted between these 2 set-ups if the stock headers were used with slip ons instead of the Jackpot 2-1-2 headers. Surely these headers alone would bring the TQ on earlier ****
Thanks again Jamie and team for doing this comparison.
