Default Noise on the primary side

Brothers and sisters, need to lean on your experience. I've got a 2007 FLHTCU with a Zippers 103 and boarzilla 2 into 1 pipes. I've got a fairly consistent knocking coming from the area of my compensator. I took it down and broke it loose. It was definitely not loose to begin with and is undoubtedly not loose now but I still have the banging. I couldn't detect any wear and the primary oil was free of any significant debris beyond what one might expect at 5000 miles from the clutch. At start the noise is pretty loud but it quiets pretty quickly at idle and will disappear altogether when the engine is cold. It returns when hot. I can't detect any significant change in the noise while riding aside from the rpm related speed. Any thoughts, does anyone have any experience with placing shims in this sort of an event? Not ready to resort to the dealer yet but may have to swallow my pride and go. Any and all thoughts are welcome.
