I noticed the other night that the LED Lights on the rear tail of my 06 Street Glide were out. A multimeter indicated that the current is flowing, so I thought it must be the LED's. I called the stealer for info on diagnosing the issue. I was told that I would have to leave the bike for service (At least a full day) and that it may not be under warranty.
Has anyone had the LED's go out? Do I need to replaced the entire piece? Should an LED last just over 1 year?
I know of a few of these lights going out, from 2 friends who have SG's. Mine hasn't yet. I feel it has something to do with water getting in there and shorting it out. Just my 2 cents.
Warranty may be a problem, because its a light, ride the dealer hard because it should last longer than what you have had.
I ordered the Run/Brake kit, which is STILL on back order: LED lights up as a brake light also
My dealer looked up the same Tri bar run/brakelight kit for the steetglide. first it siad it was bakcordered, then it siad it was revised or changed, most recently it siad unavailible/disco or something to thsat effect. Has anybody actually got one of thses yet?
LEDs should last @10,000 hours at least, that's 416 days of constant on time. This has me worried as I am getting the Street Glide fender lip/fascia/thingy on Monday to put on my Road Glide. I may have a good look at the LED strips and see if I need to add some silicone to the wires going into the lightbars
You say you know you have current flowing, how? Did you put an ammeter in series with the LED to check for current flow? Or a Voltmeter in parallel and test for volatage going to the LED? Big difference.
Dealer had a biker jam today, I went in and asked about the LED TRI-BAR light on back order. Was told it had a date of around the end of the month 06/26/07. Two months on back order, must be on the slow boat. LOL
I had water in mine and replaced it with the new Tribar brake light. I added the run/turn/brake signal module and it works great and gives me more lume in the rear.
