Default Passenger grab bar wtf?

Wife says she wants the Oh **** bars like we had on the 95, you know, chrome bars beside her seat, also good for hanging on to the bike. I order the things and get them in and start putting them on and when finished, I realize she ain't gonna like this. They sit so far forward and high, they're cutting into her leg. After a run to eat last night (60 miles round trip) she says fix em or take em off.

After looking at pics of the old bike and looking at the new one, i realize they sit way far forward od too high, plus the damn seat is being squeezed and will barely go on the screw.

Now before you say you got em on backwards, I referred to those fine illustrated Harley instructions which show exactly how to mount them. Plus if you mount them backwards, they point too far vertical to be of use.

Anybody else have any ideas, comments or fixes for these wonderfully designed parts and accessories $119 paperweights?

Do you have the one for 2009 and later, or 2008 and prior? Here's one on my '0-10.

find an old lady with small legs who likes to sit forward and hold her arms high or... sell them.

Do you still know the part number they gave you? You need 97026-09. Good luck. Once the wife gets used to something she isn't going to let go until you get it right, lol.

Like he said, all grab bars are not created equal. I tried to move the grab bars from my 01' EGC to my 09' Ultra, and they almost fit but not really. The 01' bars fit it fine, cleared the speaker pods and fit the seat well. On the 09' they won't clear the pods and like you said pinch the seat. I had to get bars for the 09', and the bails clear the pods and are much more forward and fit the seat well. Since yours is a 95' it sounds as though you have the later version and need the earlier version. That -09 part # some one posted, doesn't sound right. I don't know what the correct # is but I don't think it will end in a -09.

My wife wants me to put these on my 07 so I will be watching this post for some good advise. I'm also wondering after seeing UltraClassicElectaGlides photo's if she is gonn have even more trouble getting on and off? She is short 5'1" and she already scuffs my covers so I had to get lid covers to save my paint, now she scuffs the covers. Are grab bars gonna make it harder for her to get on?

I know this doesn't help the OP but I put bars from the '07 and earlier on my '08. Had to bend them a bit so they would clear the speakers. They sit farther back under the speakers than the pictures posted earlier show.

97026-09 is the correct part number for the '09 and newer FLH passenger grab rail.

Here's there more angles of the passenger grab handles. I can tell you that both my son and wife like them a lot. Had them as standard equipment on previous bikes and had to put them on my '06 and now the '0-10. They both claim that once you have ridden with them, it doesn't feel quite right without them.
