Windshield Comparison
12" Clearview vs 10 " Long Rider ultra Flip-Up vs Low V-Stream. Objective: To reduce the wind buffeting especially that coming in from the side onto my eyes. Baseline data: Am 6' 11/2" with a 32 inside leg (so a lot of my height is in my upper torso), bike is a 2003 EG Classic with a stock seat but with the air baffle that goes at the bottom of the triple tree, and test done without lowers into a head wind and a tail wind over various speeds. Helmet was an Arai SZ/M 3/4 with the visor up. Reference: my current set-up, the Clearview with Saeng Stealth Edging. Results: Both the LR and the V-Stream were shipped on time and as promised to my Son in Washington. Both installed with no problems. On testing I found the LR was quieter with less turbulence than the plain Clearview but not as quiet as the reference Clearview equipped with the edging. The V-Stream was worse being as noisy and turbulent or worse (from memory) as the stock screen. I had talked to the owner of Long Rider and we selected the 10" knowing that it might be too low, but knowing that it could be exchanged. As soon as I can figure out a way to get it back to the states (I live in Canada) I will try a taller LR screen. Based on the test I think a taller LR screen will outperform the Clearview with the edging. Disclaimer: All results are personal subjective opinions not based on scientific measurements and will vary from rider to rider
