Default 2011 103 loud compensator.

Does anyone have a new 2011 with loud compensator?
Mine seems loud from idle up to 2000 rpm.
Had a dealer look at it during the 1K service and said it was in spec and theres nothing they could do.

Have any of you had yours replaced under warranty?

What makes you think the noise is from the compensator?

Well the noise is coming from the primary.I pulled the derby cover off and the chain is not super loose.
I guess all the talk here about bad comps here have me paranoid.
So the sound is "normal"??LOL

Not sure you can easily judge chain tension thru the derby cover.

Also, don't feel offended but I have to ask what kind of fuel do you run?
Ping from poor fuel has some similarities in sound and sound travels thru metal to make it hard to judge the source of the sound.

Can you more accurately discribe the sound? I know it's hard sometimes to put in print.

I run 91 octane with the FM 2-1-2,jackpots and PC5 from FM.
It made the same sound before adding the FM kit.
1750 miles on the bike.
The sound is like a banging/clacking noise. It makes it at idle so its not pinging.
Just saying that the chain is not sloppy.Checked the play by reaching in with a screwdriver.
The SW at the dealer heard it and said if it gets louder to bring it back.
Otherwise the bike runs great.

My 103 has a similar noise, but it's coming from the tranny. Gear lash/neutral rollover. Only can hear it at idle in neutral with the clutch engaged. Goes away with increased rpm or when in gear.

Also bear in mind that the 2011 touring bikes come standard with the upgraded SE compensator. Most of the horror posts are regarding the older types.

Yeah, that's what has me scratching my head. I would have suspected the chain first (being loose).
Neutral noise even pushes me harder towards a sloppy chain. (No drag at all on the chain, spinning freely).

I surely hope the comp ain't comin' loose. But warranty will indeed cover that.

Mine rattles slightly at idle, and it rattles a lot when you are decelerating, downshifting, or going down a hill. Absolutely no noise when it's under load, even at 1500 RPM. When I bought my bike the compensator, chain, tensioner, and clutch was missing, so I replaced it with a SE compensator. I never rode the bike with the stock compensator. Its a 2010 Ultra Limited.

I just took my 2008 Street Glide out and it's perfectly quiet. I'm pretty sure it has the stock compensator.
