I also have a stock 88 with stage 1 true duals, except my bike is carbed. Going to check cam tensioners, figured while I was in there, I might as well put some bigger cams and better bearings and ajustable push rods.

I'm in the research phase of this project. Checked my tensioner pads over the weekend. 30,500 miles. Very little real wear, but some pitting, or opening of the dreaded air pockets is evident. Exchanged several e-mails with John regarding the Herko Kit. I'm trying to keep my cost down because I really don't have any performance issues for my style of riding. However .... if I go with the 21N cams, I'm told I need a rather pricey re-tune. I haven't heard anyone mention that in these postings that I've read. Feedback appreciated.

Joe Minton wrote a great article in the now defunct American Rider magazine. The cams he talks about are the Andrews 21's. Check my signature for the mileage results on my TC88, with SE aircleaner and modified stock pipes.

You will see a dramatic increase in an '06, due to the fact the original stock cams were the first of the EPA cams, and had no overlap. We couldn't be happier with the performance "down low" in the torque band.

A buddy and I,(well mostly buddy) Put HQ-0034 cams, Inner bearings, Adjustable pushrods and Tensioners. With 29,000 on the clock the tensioners showed very little wear, Inner had alittle pitting. Although my bike is carbed, All I had to do is adjust the af screw. I had carb work done for just stage 1 and pipes. I thought for sure I was going to have to rejet all over again but the bike runs great. The cams are with out a doubt the best mod I have done. The bike definitely feels like its on steroids.
