Drilling pipes
I have been thinking about doing some alterations.
I like the looks of the stock pipes I would just like to hear them a little more.
Of course you would need to retune using a sert or PCIII.

Get some beer & start drillin', just make sure the clamps are snugged up real tight first....start with a 1" bit on a hammer drill, keep goin' bigger til ya get the desired sound & performance....no need for a PCIII![sm=bangbang.gif]
Caution.........most guys that have drilled out the stock mufflers have not been happy with the sound.....and they've just boogered their stock mufflers. Wait! Listen for something you like and purchase those.......and keep your stockers for back-up just in case the local PD enforces the db law.
Well it's your bike and whatever you want to do is ok.
I've been thinking the same thing , but , there are lots of dresser mufflers on EBAY in the 30-50 bucks range.
At least if you wind up buggering them up , you didn't lose much.
I tried opening up the little holes in the end of both pipes to 3/8" and that wasn't much help.
Then the catalyst just "fell out of the right pipe" if you know what I mean.
After that , the sound is real close to what I want , but I sure would like to canibalize a pair just to see.
The majority of the exhaust is going to exit the right pipe anyway , stock , so the sound is going to be pretty smooth compared to true duals.
If you went a little at a time with a long drill , from both ends of the mufflers , you probably could come up with a happy spot along the way.
If you do come up with a combination that works for you , post your results.
What year is your EGS?

Been there done that. Doesnt sound much better, and both mufflers are the same and most of the exhaust comes out the right side not the left. So drilling it out will do little if anything at all.

After listening to these comments I think this might be a lost of time and I just found a set of Sampsoms for 250.00 so I might give these a try. Will I need to retune after doing this and will my motor run cooler thats the most important reason why I want to change my pipes. this is an 07 EGS Mick.
