good advice pick up someones slip ons from here or wild pigs for around $225.00 but don't go near a machine like a harley with a hammer drill you may slip and make a booboo worth more than a few bucks.
When I got my bike the previous owner had drilled the pipes. . .it sounded terrible! And I think it looks really crappy to have homemade, drilled out pipes on a nice bike (if you have a 750 Shadow it's probably ok).
Check around, a new set of slip ons can be bought for around $200 that will give you the sound you are looking for.
Bought a set of new take offs on Ebay for $40.00
Drilled em out, sounded better, and no EFI tuning needed.
But,I ended up doing a stage one, with S$S ovals. ( LOL )
Look around on ebay you will find a deal for some slip ons , they will give ya a good sound fitment will go back a few years so do some reasearch
As for drilling pipes I tried it sound like SH**
Trust me stock pipes sound like sh*t drilled out. I made the mistake of doing it. I had a set of decent slipons ordered ASAP after that litle mod; because they sounded so tinny I felt it sounded worse than stock.
If you really like the looks of your stock exhaust, I recommend you send them to Fullsac performance for their re-coring.
I gave my modified stockers to a guy on another forum, who sent them off and had this done. He said they sound great but are not annoyingly loud for touring. I believe the cost was under $200.00 for the set.
