Maybe a stupid question but can our bikes run E85?

Nope. Check your manual ... but I think the limit is 10 percent ... maybe 15.

I bough an 06 Ultra and I was thinking about trading up to the 07 and I started to think that maybe next year HD will put out an engine that excepts E85 or maybe a reverse. Anyways be happy with what you have.

Minimum octane acceptable is 91 but the higher 93 is best, running less will cause detonation and possible engine damage

Actually I think it's 85% gasoline and 15% ethanol.

But it still not approved for Harleys and I think it has mostly to do with fuel system components not being able to withstand the higher alcohol content not the engine itself.

It says 105 octane! But it requires engine modification to use, so no dont put it in your harley.
