I have my GPS and my XM radio plugged into mine. I start the bike first and then plug them in. Be sure to unplug them before you turn the bike off, or the power in their batteries as well as the power left in the plug could act as a capacitor and cause feedback in the electrical system. You will know if this is happening because you will hear a loud clicking and poping sound in the radio and speakers. This could potentially damage your radio or other audio components. Just remember to unplug before you shut off the bike and you will be fine.

The reason for that is because it will bend the prongs inside that hold the lighter in place. My GPS works fine in it but I have the bend the thing back when I put the cig lighter back in or it will fall out. I mounted a power point in my tour pack to charge my phone when needed. Now I don't worry about losing the cig lighter anymore.

Because of the vibration over time, the spring loaded contact on most accessory plugs, it can cause problems.

Does anybody here use it for stuff? If so, what do you use it for, and have you had any problems?
Use my Garmin plugged into it all the time and never had a problem.

I have a right angle plug for the IPhone and it will not even hit the tank on my batwing. As for power, GPS and phone charge with no problems.
