Question Shocks ready to

I am ready to pull the trigger on a set of Progessive 440 HD's

I am torn up on ordering the 12.5" or the 13.0"

Is there that much of a difference ? Will I loose ride comfort ?

As a general rule the shorter the shock the less travel there is, which for some is not a good thing, especially if you often travel 2-up. Have you checked with Progressive to see what their spec is for the two versions?

Great Advice -- Going with the 12.5"

Vincent,

By going with a 12.5” shock, you will lose about 3/8” travel. The 12.5” shocks have a 115/155lb spring and the 13” shocks have a 105/150lb spring. So there is a definite increase in spring tension, but the shock internals are nearly identical. So in your case, you would be able to get an excellent ride with either length. Also, the half inch difference will not alter your geometry that much. I hope that helped to answer your questions, if you have any more please let me know.

Thank You,

Bryce Carlson

More travel and ground clearance are good things.

Bryce
I'm on a 2010 FLHX. I'm 5'-10" tall but have an issue getting flat footed when stopping for a light or especially backing the bike into a spot. I would rather not change the seat but I must lower it for safety reasons. I have also had 2 back surgeries so can't afford to loose any comfort in the ride. Does Progressive have an adjustable air suspension w/ compressor that would get my feet flat on the ground without sacrificing ride comfort or do they react the same as the regular shocks
Any input would be appreciated

I too had issue's with getting my bike lower so I went with the Progressives 940.
They sit at 12" and have the travel of a 13" shock ! Great Idea and it works and the ride is GREAT!
I know people like the Air Shock and it is OK but the ride from a Progressive and a GREAT shock like the 940 with it's idea of travel is smack on !
You can help yourself and help your height stance with it!
I do not think anyone makes any thing as original as it?
