Default Progressive Shocks to Stiff

I have a 2011 Ultra Limited. Just put on a pair of Progressive 940 shocks. Adjusted as soft as they will go, about 1/2 turn. Got little over 1/2 inch of sag. Still rides stiff as all get out. Any suggestions on adjusting would be helpful. Talked to Howard today about Ohlin shocks, sounds like that is the way I should have gone to start with.

Got 440's with at least 15 k on them . I'm 235 ride solo and shocks on softest setting. Yes they are stiff. Not solid stiff but stiff. You ain't floating that's for sure.

You can send the 940's back to Progressive to get the 90/130 rated springs installed. These springs are 'softer' than the standard 940 springs. This will soften the ride some. If you're interested in trying this, contact Progressive. They're good to deal with, and the cost for this isn't bad. Most of the cost is the shipping to/from Progressive.

I weigh #215 and did this. With the least amount of pre-load (about 1/2 turn off the stop) the ride was not bad. My main issue was, when I got the 940's adjusted so the ride was compliant, I'd bottom-out on bigger dips and bumps.

I ended up going to Howard for a set of 3-3's.

Had the 940's installed last Friday. On Monday I called my indy and told him I was coming back to return them. Pretty much the same experience as others. At full soft, they bottom out on the larger bumps. Turning up the settings allows them to stop bottoming out but they become way to harsh.

I have no idea how peeps live with these long term.

I sent mine back for the lighter springs and still not happy. I have them backed all the way off and still don't have enough sag. They are not nearly as good as my 440's were. I personally think progressive dropped the ball on these. I'm 180 or so they are far to harsh on sharp bumps.

They must be for us heavies. I am ~260 and the ride does feel tiff, but ALOT better than the stock shocks. Feels great with the bike loaded or 2 up.

I did notice though that I needed the full 2" of sag per the instructions or the shocks would bottom out.
