I have a set of 440s. They were too stiff. Life time watrenty, I sent them back. They put on lighter springs. I just took them on a 2,000 mile 7 day road trip. I'm very happy with them. Call customer service. They were great.
I sent mine back for the lighter springs and still not happy. I have them backed all the way off and still don't have enough sag. They are not nearly as good as my 440's were. I personally think progressive dropped the ball on these. I'm 180 or so they are far to harsh on sharp bumps.
Just an update and a kudos to Progressive Suspension.
While in Sturgis I stopped by the PS booth that was set up at Rapid City HD and mentioned that I was not happy with my 940's as they were too stiff even with the lighter springs. They told me to bring my bike by and let them look at it. I did and they checked the sag and they agreed it was not quite right. They offered to change springs to a 13" spring that is used on standard 13" 440's to see if that worked better. They said if they did not to come back and they would do whatever they needed to do to make me happy. long story short the new springs make a night and day difference. Absolutely perfect ride.
slightly taller but still lower then the stock ride height (this on an roadglide ultra). It is so much better over sharp bumps and regular road bumps and irregularities.
I bought the 940s at progressive advise, I gave them all the information needed to make the best decision for me. My weight 175lb I ride two up 50% of the and time style of riding there response was the 940s. ok I get them and there stiff as all get out even at 0 preload I only get 1/2 sag!
I call them and they start back pedaling and say that the average rider weight is close to 300lb and I'm to light for these shocks. Well I did call them 3 times before I made my decision based on there suggestions and they should have down falls before I bought them. Now they want me to ship them back for a lighter spring on my dime and I won't even know if this will correct the problem totally. Progressive dropped the ball on these shocks they should offer both springs light and heavy according to your weight, to avoid extra cost and time spent on a $700 shock.

on the positive side they will fit in a medium usps flat rate box so shipping si not too bad and they have fast turn around. I agree tho that they know the springs are stiff for someone under 300lbs. I am extremely happy tho with the new 13" 440 springs.
