Why does the 120R.....
Ask your friendly dealer. The 131 is twice the money of the 120R And the 120 is close to 7 i think i was told. Engine gets shipped back to Jim's if there is any internal problems from what i was told at my dealership they won't or are not suppose to take them apart, not really sure. I guess if you have the extra cash go for a Jim's they even make their own cases. I paid 4300 for my 120R and it will have to do. Which 120 is better or lasts longer don't really care the 120R seems to be pretty strong and i have only seen one engine problem so far. I noticed that it is getting harder to get them with a discount now that they see that they are getting popular and staying together.

I was afraid that was going to happen, thats the way my luck seems to go most of the time.
I would agree with #2 and #3 but would add that I think the MoCo is trying to take market share back from the aftermarket. The did it with the hydraulic tensioner/roller chain hybrid kit that retrofits the ealier models. I would bet that the sale of gear drive cams and associated components have taken a hit.
Why spend $6000-$8000, or more, to build a larger displacement motor and have to deal wtih making decisions about heads, cams, etc, and shipping stuff all over the country when you can, for less money, drop in a crate engine and have you OEM engine sitting on the side as a backup? I wish the 120R was available for the earlier models; I would buy one for each of my bikes.
