I just got my street glide and i'm looking to upgrade the speakers not the whole system. Can you just use any 5.25" speaker like from Best Buy etc? And do you think it will enhance the sound?

I went with hog tunes and like them. I use an iPod. Way better sound than a radio or cd. In fact, if you haven't tried an iPod, give it a shot first. I shuffle the entire iPod....all my music crystal clear and loud enough for highway speeds.

I also put tweets In my empty gauges(Standard)

I'm a big fan of Hogtunes. Just installed their amp and speakers in my lower fairings. But I'm a believer that the BOOM! speakers are worth every penny if you just want to replace speakers.

If you are gonna do it, I say do it right and get an amplified two speaker system. I've been gathing info for a couple months and have decided on the Hog Tunes 5x7 speakers with amp, which is in the $300 - $350 price range. Gonna pick up a set next month for my RGC.

Upgrading the factory speakers to better speakers may make them play louder, but what you want is no distrotion at the louder levels. Precisely why you need an amp, especially at freeway speeds.

You need to match the Ohm rating with the speakers you are replacing. Almost any bike speaker will be an improvement over the stock speakers. I just installed the Hertz speakers with an amp. I have a used set of J&M 5.25's that I took off. They were an improvement over the stock, but I wanted more so went with this package. PM me if you are interested in them.

I'd have to vote for Hogtunes as well. Not that I have anything to compare them too (my SG had them when I bought it). I did just add the hogtunes tweeter pod to the fairing and I must say it ROCKS!

I've got the stock size J&M's and used memory foam around and over the speakers and sound almost good as the 7's at half the price, had a guy comment on it some time ago asking if I was running an amp to get the bass I was. Sound has to reflect off something and we all know subs are put in boxes so I just used what I had around. Happy camper here.
