If you have an 09 Ultra go get it corrected now. I went through this. I think that HD knows about the problem but a recall is way to obvious. If you don't want to take it in get some alcohol (not for drinking) and clean the ECM contact both male and female and the injector connectors and for that matter anything else. Use some dielectric grease on the connections when you reconnect. Problem is solved. I just went after my deal. Acted like I was nuts, told them to look it up I was sure a TSB or equiv out there. Thanks to this forum I had ammunition when I took it in. I had to disconnect and reconnect the ECM on the road, Thankfully it did not happen the morning of the 27th in North Alabama when we headed out in that mess for Thunder Beach. Happened the next morning. 17K on it..

So is it the ECM or the TCA that is the issue? MY RK now takes a few extra seconds to crank rather than the usual press start and fires up right away...related?

No limp mode with 1K so far.......

Just over 10k with no problems, during my next service I'll probably check the connector for any sign of corrosion.

I took a RGU (had 62 miles on it) for a test ride last week and it went into limp mode during rush hr. called dealer to come pick me up.
I had read about this before on these forums, when I tried to tell mechanic about it he said he never seen/heard of. He was full of it, all of them where. They can't tell you, "yea its been a problem since 08"...right

I still want to buy one though, haha, but is there any "tsb"(ammo) I can go in there with to get this addressed w/better pins/connectors?
btw..still keeping the best year touring bike by far....my 07 w/41k never left me stranded miles

Not sure I understand that.
So you had a Honda & you traded? Down?
Hmmm. Intersting statement.

Gosh, I sure hope my Honda (Keihin) carburetor and it's cables continue to operate flawlessly ans they have been (10 yrs)

Just ANOTHER Harley problem, I try not to keep account of them ALL.
I just ride it till it brakes and then hope I have the money to have it
fixed. Just like the ole 97 that ate an inner cam bearing, $1,700 and
I was back on theroad again. Dont worry, be happy!......Tenn.Vol.

Yeah, I agree, but on the other hand, I've read where this has happened on an interstate rolling along at 70+. At least w/ a cam bearing you'll get some sort of warning, this issue causes it to die all at once, at least it did with me while making a u-turn.

yeah, cause hondas are so perfect, i mean, they would never have any issues like frame welds cracking or front end problems.

bye, don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.
