Default Need Help 07 Road Glide has oil leak

My 07 has developed a oil leak. Seems to be dripping a couple of drops of oil after a ride on the garage floor. From my best ability to tell where it is coming from it seems to be coming from the seam between the transmission and engine. I have talked to 3 different dealers and gotten 3 different answers from there is no oil in that area to drip to it is uncommon to it is common. Any ideas????

from my experience with that power train system.....my recommendations....make sure all your fluids are filled on the low side when hot.....use the thickest weight fluids that make sense for your climate....over filled thin fluids = leaks

My 04 does not leak, may need to wipe a little drull from it's airfilter chin once in a while. Bet it coming from a bad o-ring on a drain plug. Next time you change the fluids make sure they are all new. $3.00 in o-rings will probably fix it. That is if its factory. If its been torn down for a problem anything goes then. Do not agree with speaker. 140 wt gear lube will leak out just like motor oil if it finds a unsealed area.

I ride a 07 RG too and have no leaks. I agree with replacing the drain plug o rings each time the fluids are changed or at least every other time. Do you change your own fluilds? How many miles are on the bike?

I have an 07 RG and have slight seepage between trans/engine, but it is on the top. Heres what Ive been told by my indy builder, there is no oil cavity there and there is no pressure by that cavity, whats happening is the seam between the eng cases is leaking and filling the cavity with oil. You would have to split the cases and reseal it to stop the leak.
As said, lower your engine oil level a bit, I dropped mine 1/2 quart and it doesnt seep much at all, I can live with it until I maybe do a 120 motor
I noticed when I kept it full especially on summer hot days it would leak more.

I don't know how many miles you have or what you're running for oils in the differnt parts, but there is no oil seal between engine and trans. You should see it on the engine if it is puking from too much oil. Get a light and look to see if it is coming from the primary. I would tend to suspect trans fluid leaking from the shift shaft seal. I run different fluids in all three so if something starts to leak, it's easy to know what it is.

My '07 Street Glide has developed a 'seep' at the exact same spot. Dealer told me that it is the gasket between the engine case and transmission where the engine oil flows from the oil pan to the engine. He guessed without looking at about $125 parts and 5 hours labor, or about $500.

He said I could let it go for a couple years if I wanted, he didn't think it was that bad, but I hate it.

Have to pull the transmission from the engine to get to it. I may have a go at it myself this winter.

It's all just nuts and bolts
