Default Help, i need tunes...

Hello everyone,

Just got my first HD (2011 Road King), and the only thing i want to change on the bike is the lack of tunes!

It looks like i'm after handlebar mounted speaker set up.

Please give me some suggestions, I did see the BOOM set up HD has in the dealerships. I thought they sounded good.

Thanks,

Never heard any handlebar speakers, but if that's what you need, might as well go for them. Don't plan on hearing what you hear in your car, though, and don't be disappointed. I have fairing speakers, and I even had a subwoofer in the tourpak of my last bike. Sounded nicer than most cars --- at curbside, but at highway speed I couldn't hear alot of bass. I won't go to the expense of a huge stereo upgrade again. Not worth it unless you're just going to bike night, if you get my drift! As long as you can hear some music, that's about as good as it'll get. I'm 1 of those guys who has spent alot of money to find that out.

I went with the Rumble Road Ultra self amplified handlebar mount speakers. They look pretty good and sound pretty good too. I can hear them just fine at hwy speeds up to 85 or so. They do distort a little when you have them turned way up but the wind noise drowns that out. Like the above poster said don't expect them to sound like your car but these do sound pretty good and I think they were worth it.

On a side note if you are going to use an ipod for your player check out the riders claw. They are an awesome handlebar mount for the ipod. I put mine on a week ago and it is super easy and looks very nice.

Ear buds won't stay in my ears. I installed the Boom Audio handlebar system. I picked up a little MP3/Radio receiver. It works well with the windshield on. I can understand the morning DJs going 80MPH. Without the windshield, I loose clarity at about 45-50. I wear a half helmet and there is just too much wind noise. I usually have the windshield on and I like having my tunes. I won't try to review new music while riding. There is just too much not being heard. A lot of bass is missing. But if it is the old songs you know and love then it's a great purchase. No regrets installing mine.

Have to agree with Itch. On my king the best solution was use an ipod and earbuds/helmet speakers. Finally gave up and trade for a street glide to get the radio!

Thanks everyone for your help. As a newbie it's nice to have people help a guy out.

I'm going to pass on the earbuds way, my wife would kill me if i had some tunes and she didn't as we ride two up. LOL.

+ 1 on the ipod and earbuds. I went a step farther and installed a headphone amp under the fairing and mounted a jack on the side of the dash and on the left side cover to plug them in.

Sounds as good as my home stereo at 70 mph.

I am sure you can buy a splitter for $5.00 at Radio shack..There is a ongoing thread about how much trouble some of these guys have with the Harley High Dollar radios..
