HD price gouging on the fork baffle
I remember ordering the black fork baffle that came standard on earlier FLH models for my 2006 Street Glide. At the time this part was around $12. Well I guess HD noticed the popularity of this part and decided to up the price a little. The same part that was $12 five years ago now sells for over $42.00!!! Quite a mark-up. The black actually sells for $16 more than the chrome version now.

Crazy huh? I just bought one for $25 at a local ind. shop. They sold the HD packaged one and the Kuryakn (sp) for the same price. I could not see a difference between the two. So I bought the HD one and it only came with two chrome screws, it requires three to fill all the holes to mount it. Maybe the Kuryakyn part comes with all three screws. I asked the parts guy at the shop if these doodads really made any difference. He said, "Yeah they work real good, in fact, they used to be stock equipment on FLH's. HD just figured out they could sell it seperately and make some more money." I must admit, after installing this part the radio got a lot louder, and the wind does get re-routed pretty good.

Bought a chrome one @8 months ago & gave mid 20's plus tax from a harley dealer. Shortly noticed afterwards Kuryakyn offered one. As far as the radio getting a lot louder, I doubt that. And yes the HD one only came with 2 screws. Later I added that chrome dohicky piece that mounts directly behind the deflector that covers up the bolt heads that hold the upper legs in the tripple tree. Can't remember off hand what that trim piece was called but if I remember correctly it may have cost more than the deflector.
Ok, I found it, the dohicky... http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
