And don't go grabbing a handful of front brake when maneuvering slow in a parking lot. And the electrical trouble shooting manual is a nice work also.

My Ride Like a Pro DVDs & Book will show you how to be the master of your machine. I have a DVD for every skill level rider. From beginner to seasoned rider, I'll show you what you need to master & learn how to do it the proper way.

I offer rider my ADVANCED rider training classes here in Hudson, FL as well as our 10 franchises across the Country. My classes are for the experienced rider wanting to enhance their motorcycle skills. I base my course on my Police training and it will have your confidence and skills improving 100% before my 4 hour class is complete.

My Ride Like a Pro Class is focused on teaching the average rider the three Motor Officer techniques the cops have been trained in for more than 60 years. This course is based on low speed motorcycle handling techniques. The average speed on the course is approximately 10mph. The reason low speed motorcycle training is important is driving below 20mph there is no gyroscopic effect and gravity tends to pull the motorcycle to the ground. Learning the 3 Motor Officer techniques prevents this from happening. Because most motorcycle crashes occur on the street below 20 mph, low speed handling is of the utmost importance. I base my course on my Police training and it will have your confidence and skills improving 100% before my four hour class is complete.

We have been running this course for over 11 years, teaching thousands of students and have never had a single injury or incident. In my rider course you'll get all the tips, tricks and techniques you'll need to master that course and bring your skills to a whole new level. All riders bring their own motorcycle to my classes.

Police Motor Officers are the top 2% of riders in America. They are able to handle 800 lb. motorcycles with the ease of a child’s toy. What do Police Motor Officers know about riding that you don’t? Simply put, these officers know three techniques. Just three. These techniques allow anyone regardless of their size or strength to handle even the biggest, heaviest, motorcycle with ease and confidence.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the bike. I have an 06 and I think you will love it. And that 87 GN is a sweet ride, I would love to have one someday. My first car was a 72 Buick Skylark, not a GSX, but it was plenty of fun for a 15 yr. old......

2nd the non-Harley oils. Kept thinking I had a tranny problem until I siwtched to an aftermarket oil, now it shifts smooth as can be. I downloaded a manual from the net and ended up buying the HD service manual, well worth the price IMO. I would also suggest looking closely at your cables, not just lubing them. I had a throttle cable break on me, and so did a firend. I'm now going to change them every winter as it is cheap insurance at $25 a pop.

Definitly take the MSF Course. It will "remind" you of all the stuff you forgot.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Got the service manual. Checked everything over and have been riding almost none stop for the last week. Will also check out the DVDs and likely find a MSF course around here - if not now, in the spring. Think I put a fresh 750 miles on it since last post. Weather has been absolutlely beautiful here.

Just got back from my first poker /toys-for-tots run today. 100 miles. 5 stops. Great fun, great people. Don't get weather like this often around this time of year (full sun today. mid 50's in the am low 80's in the afternoon).

Good times!
