Default Inner Cam Bearing

Does Harley still use the same "crappy" Inner Cam Bearing that they used on the 2005 engines? I'm in the midst of installing TW-555 cams on my 2012 with 1,500 miles on it and just realized that the Inner Cam Bearing Puller (Georges Garage) that I have was for the 2005 Ultra I owned years ago. I guess my question is...since my bike has such low mileage is it neccesary to change the inner bearing? It'll take a week before I can get another Puller shipped.

Yes they do still use the INA bearings. The SE bearings that HD offers as P&A are the Torringtons.

I assume the Cam Bearing Puller that I have for an 88" wouldn't work then?

No the puller will not work. Different size inner bearings. Probably wouldn't have an issue with leaving the old ones in, but if it were me I'd change them to the full compliment.

I'm in the process of a cam swap the bike is apart just waiting on cams hopefully tomorrow.I changed the bearings I was back and forth but changed them because almost everyone says to.My friend is helping me out ,he works on machinery for a living and could not figure out why anyone would change them he says if he does cams he is leaving the stock ones in,that INA bearings are good.Do whatever you feel ok with ,it would always be in the back of my mind if I didn't change them.

Go to AutoZone and borrow their blind hole puller with the collet to fit the 1" bearings.
