I was at harbor freight and found for $5 a socket with about a foot of wire that had a plug so you can plug it into the 4 pin trailer hitch plug on your truck. I coincidentally also plugs right into the plug on the bike for the battery tender. Correct polarity and everything. Since i have a dyna i didn't have a socket. Now i can charge my phone or whatever on long trips.

I am using a USB adapter also.
Here is a link to one, which is also available at Wal Mart.

Notice in the second picture below, there is no interference with the tank when turning full lock right to full lock left.

It's a 12 volt receptacle, works good.....unless the polarity is reversed from the factory. (might pay to check that before using it)

HD does not want the liability of someone not being able to turn fully left. They could care less about your tank. They have also been known to wire the lighter backwards. If something does not seem right, check polarity and PLEASE make sure you can turn fully left without problems.
Man that would be a sharp turn rolling.....maybe trials riding!
The manual write-up purpose was only for moving a bike into a parking position and being in a locked position with some accessory plugged into the lighter striking the tank. IMHO that would be the only reason to be fully locked left!

The traffic update model will work with that too. I have one and it's great.
No it isn't. It's because high-draw accessories like tire inflators, vacuums, etc. will blow the fuse.
