Best Exhaust for Touring Models
I love my Rineharts. excellent chrome quality and I haven't noticed any chirping on concrete sufaces with almost 33k on them. Nice deep rumble and still very touring friendly with the tunes. There's a reason so many riders are running them, they saw them on someone elses bike and loved them, same as me.
What's that chirping noise?
Here is a link to my 4" Rinehart slip ons. Gutted stock head pipe and high air flo a/c

oh my not again...
if you want performance - 2into1. Physics... There are many options, but the one I 'like' is supertrap. Lots of tuneability. Lots of options.
If you want volume - get a megahorn. (think Rudy Vallee)

When you ask an open question like that you will not get a suitable answer. Touring Harleys are used for everything from bar hoppers to crossing Continents, as the answers received to date suggest. You need to tell us what you are going to do with this bike! If you want to cross Continents you will quickly tire of a noisy exhaust and be either deaf or screaming before too long.
I had S&S SPO mufflers on true duals until recently. They fit well with long tours, which my wife and I have done with them. I recently fitted a SuperMeg 2-into-1, with very worthwhile improvements, not in power, but torque. I lost 1HP at peak rpm (not missed!), but gained plenty in the low/mid range. Well worth the change and we have toured with that as well, crossing the Alps and Vosges. Motor is much smoother and sweeter running.

As several have stated in many relative posts; the choice is yours. Go listen to others and ask questions. I went with the V&H power duals with V&H monster ovals. I've toured with them at interstate speeds and short hopped around town. I like them but there are those who prefer other exhausts. The one thing I wish I would have done would be to have had the stock bike dyno'd and then dyno once again after the fuel management system, breather and exhaust were installed.
Depends on what you want. The D&D Fatcat is a great pipe that sounds good and makes great power. It's loud though. Too loud for touring for me. The 4" Dyno Tuned Jackpots are near perfect to my ears.
Best sound is highly subjective.
Me, I like full/deep rumble and that's what I get with the CFRs. I had Rineharts before and they sounded to "tinny" for me.
Listen to as many exhausts as you can installed on the same bike as yours and pick the one you prefer.
Also, keep in mind that several factors influence sound: design of the slip-ons, true duals, cams, just to name the most important.
