Talking V&H Power Duals...pulling the trigger!

Here is my question to the V&H technical staff:

To whom it may concern,

I have a 2009 HD Road Glide w/ 15K miles and VH Monster Oval slip on’s.
I am contemplating the purchase of “true dual” system and don’t understand the difference between the VH dresser and power duals?

A brief explanation would be great.

Here is the V&H technical staff response:

The dresser dual head pipes are a good performing system mainly at the top end. They are mainly for looks, and to attain 50-50 exhaust flow from each mufflers. Also allows better flow for less heat build up as apposed to the stock header pipes.

The Power Dual Head Pipes are a performance orientated system. They are 2-1-2 head pipes which incorporates the concept of a 2-1 system with a collector chamber. This system provides appropriate backpressure and flow for efficient combustion and overall performance gains.

Got a wrench who's setting me up with the following:
V&H Power Duals
Power Commander
Custom Mapping - Dyno
Labor
$1250.00 for everything

if your bike is lowered, the cover on the X pipe can hit HARD- see if the tech can change anything with the cover to give you better clearance for the right turns.

make sure the clamp on the crossover is oriented so that the bolt doesn't dig into speedbumps and damage the pipe ( like my Pal's.)

Thanks Mike, my ride is not lowered, I didn't want to mess with perfection.

After riding 2/1 systems and true duals, I would never get TD. They look good but lack low end punch the 2/1 gives you.

Go to power duals, they have the best of both worlds.
I should have read your post heading a little better. The power duals are great, I have them and my bike runs awesome. 90hp and 102tq with 204 cams. I have great bottom end and top end as well, I really think you will like them.

Been looking at the power duals and FM headers. V&H's name carries alot of weight but afraid of dragging them and only a 90 day warranty.. I am not an aggressive rider but sometimes you got to do what you need to when in a turn with on coming traffic and scrapping is definatly a distraction when in this situation. The true duals never crossed my mind because of performance. If I get the Limited I am looking at I think I'm going FM ( life time warranty and no ground clearance issues). My Dealer is saying go V&H but they are not a FM dealer. I guess they will work with what I give them when doing my stage 1 including the dyno tuned jackpots.

I have and like them although they will scrape. The area that scrapes is low on the X pipe cover and is not that noticeable.

I went with the FM 2-1-2 and have been 1,000% satisfied, I wanted to keep the factory clearance and look under the factory heat shields.

Happy to report the installation of the V&H Power Duals and Power Commander V are complete!

The dyno results show the following:
Max Power 82.3
Max Torque 96.8

I only wish I knew how I was running before the power duals...I do know this...there is a noticeable difference in take off and overall power.
