I think Fuel Moto's prices are about as good as they get, and from my experience their customer service is first rate. Mine was also $279 for an '07, which includes two O2-sensor eliminators.

Mine looks like this, which is the map created at Fuel Moto that I haven't altered yet.

Comparing yours and mine in the cruise range:

I'm surprised to see any negative numbers in my tables, but there are plenty as you can see, while you have almost none. On your table, your numbers are generally richer than mine in the cruising range, so I would assume you could tune them down a bit. I might change 2250, 2500, and 3000 @ 20% to 2 and leave the 40% alone.

What I do see that I think needs changing is the "take-off" range, from 1000-2000 with 0-10% throttle, which looks rich in mine and yours. Leaning this out will mean less-peppy throttle response, but I'm not sure I really need it there at the expense of gas mileage. I would think stop-and-go city mileage would suck with these settings.

As for ignition advance, I'd like to up the cruise range about 10% and see what happens. As you've said, it would be good to determine exactly what the throttle position is at the 60-75mph cruising range, where I'll be most of the time on the road. Too bad we can't see a readout while riding, but your idea of marking the throttle sounds good. I might do that today (after it warms up), using a marker.

After that, I guess the best thing is to save the map already in the PCIII, then tweak it. Do the settings hold after you change them on the computer? On the left we see these options, and to the right my interpretation, which may be erroneous:

Open map file: Open another map file stored on the notebook
Save map file: Save the present settings to a new filename on the notebook?
Send map: Send the map loaded on the notebook to the PCIII
Send table: Saves the table as an image file on the notebook?
Get map: Gets the map from the PCIII (automatic when opening the program)
Get table: ???

For marking, I used a receipt from gas.
I taped it to the bars up against the master cylinder. I could then make a mark with my finger (they have the embedded carbon) that aligned with a reference mark in tape on my grip. I couldn't figure out how to use a pen and still hold the throttle.

You're settings sure are a ton different than mine. Sounds like a lot of experimenting is in order.

I don't really know what the table features are for. I figured it was for the page you are on: Fuel or Ignition. I have never used that one.

You can definitely do a 'save as'. I also found it helpful to put notes at the bottom so I remember the experimenting I did.

My 0% throttle is pretty rich because I had a lot of decel popping. Through lots of trial and error, this is what I came up with to get rid of most of it. There is occasionally a small amount, but I had that even stock.

I look forward to seeing what you figure out. I was going to play with it today, but I just got called to go to work. I guess there is always next weekend...

Okay, the parade of progress never ends. I tested the second map and could tell no difference from the first, which is good. It's using less fuel and has more ignition advance in some key areas with no ill effects. I marked the throttle position and was amazed to find that it was at <10% in cruise mode (60-80 mph steady speed in 5th and 6th gear).

Never to leave anything alone, I bumped it some more and added the 5 and 10% settings to the cruise range:

I basically lowered the A/F ratio percentage even more in the "take-off" and "cruise" ranges, and upped the advance to +10 degrees in the cruise range. Took another ride and again no problems noticed. I will ride it like this for a while, check mileage, and see if any ill effects emerge.

Here's what I've learned about the options in the PCIII main menu:

Open Map File: Opens a file saved on the computer, but does not load it to the PCIII
Save Map File: Saves the map currently on the screen
Send Map: Send the settings on the screen to the PCIII
Send Table: No idea, and can find nothing about this option in any documentation.
Get Map: Get the map stored in the PCIII for display on the screen.
Get Table: Again, no idea.

Great info. I wish I could have played with mine today. No such luck.

Can you repost the pic, it's not showing up in your last post.
Also, can you post your bike info with mods?
This is getting really interesting.

So you dropped the values by how much in your cruise range? 0-10% throttle, 2k-4k rpm?
And you increased the timing by 10* throughout that range?

Not sure why you're not picking up the table image, as it's coming up okay here. Anyone else having trouble? Try it direct by typing in this URL: www.iclickphotos.com/Motorcycle/PCIIIc.jpg

As for how much I dropped the values, I basically cut the A/F values in half over the first mod between 5 and 20% throttle and 2000 and 3000 RPM. I also halved them again in the "take off" range, where Jamie had programmed them rich (see original table) to apparently improve throttle response there. In the ignition section I doubled the values in that same range, as you can see. Frankly, if there is a difference I can't feel much, and I haven't touched the values for anything beyond 40% throttle and 3000 RPM, so a full roll-on for all-out performance should be still optimized for performance.

In the old days, many vacuum-advance units in cars advanced 20 degrees or more over base setting, and I don't see why you couldn't do that here even though gas isn't what it used to be. I may move the ignition advance up to 15 or even 20, if it'll go that high, although I think I read somewhere that 15% was the limit for the PCIII on ignition advance over base. That may be over-doing it, though, since I don't know how much advance is engineered into the ECM already.

It'll be too damn cold tomorrow to ride, but Tuesday or Wednesday I can perhaps mess with it more. BTW, make sure you save each old map before sending a new one to the PCIII. I thought I was saving them but they're not on the notebook, so double check. I do have the JPG images I sent this forum in case I want to reconstruct the values, however.

Bike info: '07 SG (600 miles), with a K&N kit, Rush mufflers (1 3/4" baffles), and PCIII. Otherwise it is stock.
