Default 2011 street glide 103 w flat spots on lifters!

I recently took my SG in to have the header pipes changed out and have the cams changed to the 254e. When the mechanic called to let me know the work was done, he told me that he had to replace my lifters because they had flat spots on them.

My bike only has 5300 miles on it. It seems a bit premature to have this kind of wear on the valve train.

Let me know what you guys think about this.I will attach pics later today.

Flat spots? Where? On your mechanic's forehead? Sounds like you got some new lifters because he could. Then again...with a 20011 SG...

Well if I didn't personally know my mechanic I would say you might be right.

Man that don't sound good, that would mean that the roller portion of the lifter must have seized up. I would like to see pictures.

i also just had to have the lifters replaced in my 2011 103 streetglide.....kept hearing a ticking noise coming out of the top end.....dealership pulled it apart and only found a lifter that was scored.....they replaced but didn't fix the noise.....

when parts are worn together such as cams and lifters, it is not good practice to mix new parts with old.

- the worn lifters in this case may prematurely wear the hardened portion of the cam lobes.
