Default Left turn signal doesn't work!

I'm looking for ideas from the forum on this one.
I noticed that my left turn signals didn't work on my morning commute. The right side functions fine.
The running lights in front are normal, and the hazards work normally. The lights will also flash when the alarm arms itself. The only thing that doesn't work is the left turn signal.
Since the lights work in other modes, I don't suspect that it's a bulb issue.
I washed the bike on Friday. Maybe something happened to the switch?
I have the service manual at home, but I figured some of the gurus here can give me some insight before I tear into it later.

Thanks,

Steve

I'd look at the handlebar switch and associated wiring first, as you note, the bulb, bulb wiring and "some" functions of the TSM are normal.

So either the TSM is bad, or it is not getting signal to operate-- checking the switch and wiring is the easiest and least expensive fix, so start there.

Thanks Mike.
I was thinking along similar lines as well. Having pretty much ruled out bulbs, the switch and associated wiring come into question next.
Worst case scenario, does anyone know how much a TSM costs?

Thanks again,

Steve

Update:

Got out of work yesterday, and the signals worked fine all the way home.
Being the *genius* that I am, I decided to spray some contact cleaner/lubricant behind the switch itself for some so-called "peace of mind".

Anyhow, while riding out to work this morning, I got no left signal. Part way through, it starts working on its own. I had to cancel it by using the right signal, as pushing the left switch wasn't working. Finally, everything was all good by the time I got to work, some 12 miles later.

Something's amiss, obviously. Should I just keep an eye on it for a while, or should I go in and explore the switch housing? Can I get to the "innards" behind the turn signal switch by removing it from the handlebars, or is it more complicated than that?

Any help/advice welcome!

I would take the switch housing apart (top from bottom) And get some compressed air and blow it in there.
When I wash my bike I make it a point to stand there and blow out the switch housings very good with compressed air.

Even if all evidence points elsewhere, I would install a new bulb. I've had them fool me before. Using "process of elimination" troubleshooting, that's where to start. Besides, it's easy and it'll give you peace of mind.
