Backing out the center adjuster screw moves the engagement point on the lever closer to the handgrip.

Backing the screw out too much will cause the clutch to not completely disengage.

But...

If you don`t back the center adjuster screw out enough, the clutch may not completely engage and can also fry the throwout bearing and clutch pushrod end.
