The lawsuit should be toward the federal government for forcing engines to run at certian standards that require the moco to run the fuel injected engines at the normal 14.7 to 1 stoeo. If not for that Harley would be able to sell a factory tuned engine that would be tuned to run on the richest mixture that will produce the most power/torque and run the coolest etc. Any suit would be baseless against the moco who can rightly pass the blame on congress. IMHO

I cant believe another American can justify wasting the courts time and money over this BS. Try walking around in Iraq with a 60lb pack and an assault rifle ya sissy puss little pansies! I promise its a heat you have never experienced. Add flying bullets and the stress of fighting for your life and you get another 20 degrees! I risked my life so you can enjoy the freedoms we have here in the United States and this is how you choose to exercise your rights? We got hippies sitting down on wall street cuz nobody will spoon feed them a six figure career and lawyers bleeding the system dry from the inside out. Have I lost my mind or are we headed towards the ******* at a high rate of speed?

Nope... you're normal. And yes... we are heading to the *******. I just hope for our sake we'll have a hunting season on stupid people before it becomes an all out epidemic. It just keeps getting worse and worse each year. We need to start thinning the herd now!

I hear ya 40wack. I lost a nut from a piece of taliban frag so this BS can go on. I wonder a little more everyday if America is still worth fighting for. Of course with a half empty sack maybe I have more ventilation between the knees. How about doing this with stupid people?

When this lawsuit first became public, I was of the opinion, WTF !

But the specs furnished to the cop bike tests on this link

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-business.html

which I posted, opened my eyes. Scroll down to page 56 and beyond, and see what temps Harley says is "normal operating temps." If you think an operating temp of 410 degrees is acceptable....

http://www.lasdhq.org/sites/motorcycle-test/2011.pdf

The isolated tranny of our beloved Harleys registered a temp of 265 degrees.....hotter than the engines of all the other test bikes, including the air cooled BMWs.

I spent a good part of my life in the plastics industry. Everyone thinks that Harleys upgrade to the cam chain tensioners has solved the problem. What "everyone" doesn't realize is the effect of repeated high temps on plastic parts.

I predict that cam chain failures will start showing up again in the near future, as the plastic parts become brittle and start failing from the high heat. You heard it here first.

It may come to this but in this case if HD looses HD should sue the EPA for compensation. If these guys have a case surely HD will, after all the EPA has no concern about rider saftey only carbon control. Its one thing to require this for a car where the consumer is protected from Engine heat by a cab its another to require it for open engine vehicle where the consumer will be exposed. This is not a HD issue but motorcycles in general. HD should do some comparision testing and I am sure they will if they loose this case. As a matter of fact HD should file a lawsuit now asking for compensation for the cost inccurred so far.

As for me the Cats are going and a new tune. I would blame HD for all the money I have to spend in aftermarket "off road use only" parts but I know they have no choice in the matter, its the idiots that take money from my paycheck every week that caused this. They created a job that is somewhat needed but then take it to the extremes to justify there existance without using common sense.
