I used to break fairing stays every few months on my cbr900rr's. They would collapse and then snap...you knew it when it did it. It was about the only thing holding the upper fairing on.

I just repaired on of my supports last week, 1st one I've had break. I did a piece of aluminum bent and drilled/bolted.

The stock piece is cast, no wonder it breaks at the corner.

Probably need the front motor mount changed. The excessive shaking from the engine tends to break those brackets. There are some repair kits out there but this is the best I have seen and I also have a set on my bike, to prevent the brackets from breaking in the first place. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fairing-Supp...item3f0d3a4b32

From my understanding, these things always brake in the same place. Mine broke during the summer. The Mechanic that works on our Police bikes made a simple "L" bracket out of a small metal strip, drilled a couple of holes and attached it to the bracket where it broke. He said he has never had it brake again after doing this. This took all of about 5 min for him to bend and drill into the proper places. Cost of the metal is just pennies. Just an alternative to an expensive kit.

For about 50 bucks you can buy some good aftermarket ones from this guy. I bought a complete set and couldn't be happier. No hassle to purchase.
