Default Need Help w/ Fairing Brackets

I have read in this forum the technique to reinforce the brackets. I can not find those posts. Can someone please offer me some pointers on how to do this mod?

For the vertical bracket, the weak point is at the top where it attaches to the fairing. You can either add a weld in bottom part of that joint to close it. Or if you don't have a welder, you can reinforce it with a small metal "L' bracket bent to match the Vertical bracket. Held in place with a small bolt and screw. Note that you would have to drill a small hole for this, But it shouldn't be hard.

There are two sets of brackets that fail, first the brackets that extend from the main vertical bracket that anchors to the lower mount for the speaker(s). This one fails the most and is easiest to modify in the garage. Place a small weld/bead at the bend closest to the speaker end; it's easier to go and buy an new set and do this if they are already broken (13 bucks +- ea.). A MAPP torch and brazing rod makes it a quick solid fix. The vertical rods are easily repaired by a small angle with a hole in it as prior mentioned.

I just bought an 09 Ultra. Are these bracket failures still a problem, or is this something the MOCO has remedied on newer bikes?

Still a problem they have no new part number for them. usually you see a A or a B after the part number and they are still part A and they have not made them any stronger. Its funny they are on like part number D for the push button fuel door release but they will not fix a re-occurring problem its great to own an icon.

Rick
I just did mine (top fairing bracket, both sides) on my 07 Ultra with 13,500 miles.
Fortunatly it is still under the 2 year waranty and the Dealer is doing it
in 2 weeks. Best part is I am having them switch out the air temp gage
with and Oil Temp gage while they are doing it.
