Default Helmet for the Cranially Endowed

I was wondering if anyone has the same problem I have. I'm looking for a comfortable half helmet, but finding one to fit is anything but easy. Any help would be great. My head is about a size 8-8 1/8

What type of helmet do you want? half helmet? full helmet? The Vegas fit me pretty well in an L, where as my Shoei Qwest full face helmet I have a 3x. I dislike full face helmets, but always bring it for long trips, because I dislike getting pelted with rain more. The Shoei has interchangable pieces for the sides so you can talor it to your head, and I have a giant melon to cover, so that was a necessity for me.

I would suggust going somewhere local to try them on, because physical sizes vary by manufacturer.

I suggest a carbon fiber Daytona. I have a head like a bastard rat and it fits perfect and is very comfortable and only weighs about 3 lbs. The best part is that it does not make your head look like a mushroom. When I bought mine, I bought one for the wife too. She wears her hair in a bun on the top of her head under the helmet and it still fits and looks good.

My head is 7 7/8. I can't help you on a half helmet. I have one made by Shoei, but I don't like it. I am a full face user. Stereo piped to my ears, microphone in the helmet, warm on winter rides, no aggravating wind in my face or ears, and most of all, my head and face will look great in the casket!!

With heads the size of ours, you will have to find a thin 1/2 cap or it will look huge. Then if it's thin, what good is it? A dilemma for sure.

And for a little humor...I'm right there with ya brother!

I have two half helmets. One is a Skid Lid "traditional" and the other is a GLX "504 carbon". Both fit well and are not mushroom helmets. The Skid Lid is very inexpensive, under $50.00 and the GLX is under $150.00. Both are D.O.T. approved.
