I just got off the phone with our local dealer(parts man)he says he has not seen anything from Harley about the locks.I guess it is time to fire a note off to the top floor. For now,it is not going back together.

This was a recall because there is a small plastic piece in the lock that is prone to breakage. The new factory lock has a more robust piece. With the old style, if the piece broke, you could not rotate the lock out of the locked position. When I punched my VIN into the Harley maintenance website, it told me I needed the upgrade. No big drama. It was changed without a hassle. It did take a few hours because the fairing had to be removed.

Haven't had a problem yet. What years does this 'upgrade' apply to?

Ihad the "upgrade" on my 06 Ultra but didn't notice a difference either way. My 02 Road King was a different story. It locked me out at Daytona Bikeweek and I had to disassemble the entire nacelle with the minimalist took kit on hand to regain use of my bike. Upon returning home it was replaced under warranty, then the same thing occured with the new one. I got smart and never locked it again...
