Thumbs up 20K Mile Rear Tire?

Not heard of any until now....... My original rear tire right now has 20655 miles on it. Darn near down to the wear marks. Still has a little wear to go. But I guess I'll get me a new tire with the 20K service next week. All I have done is keep a check on the air pressure. No burn-outs but a hard take off once in a Blue Moon. What do you think my chances are of getting 20K out of my next tire?????
I think I'll have them sign the tire and put the mileage and date on it and hang it in the shop just prove I had a 20K mile tire one time.
It's a shame we all can't get that kind of mileage out of all of our tires.

I was at just shy of 9K on my original rear tire and it looked damn near brand new. I'm not hard on the tires I suppose. Just had to replace it though... Damns nail...

Your right hand has alot to do with tire wear, I'm just saying.

That is some great mileage on the rear tire indeed! I usually can go 14-16k on mine, and I do a fair amount of interstate riding, which probably promotes longevity since the speeds are stable. As Zimbob says, use of the right hand is what determines tire wear, so 20k would seem to indicate that you spend a lot of time on interstates as well.

Still, at $300/tire I know you're very happy to have gone 20k!

got 24K out of mine could've took it to 25k easy, 10SG also. Replaced with OEM, most of my riding is on two-lanes, except the annual Sturgis trip.

I was at our dealership when a guy came in for a rear tire on an 09 FLHTCU and had a little over 27K on it!

Wow, there are definitely a lot of variances in tire wear. I have 10k on this rear tire with 2/32 left in the center. I always keep the air pressure at 40 and vary between 2 up and solo. Maybe the 3 months of 100+ degree heat this last summer helped shorten the life.

Last tire was doing good at 7k until a nail took it out.

Have a stock Dunlop now, might try a Michelin Commander II

The D407?? I think it is has the dual compound rubber to last longer. My front was replaced due to cupping at 10k. At 13k the rear was cupped also but still had 3/32 tread left when I replaced it.
