Default clutch lever

How much play should there be on the clutch lever. I noticed today that there is about 3/8 of an inch play when I first try pulling in the clutch. The clutch also seems to grab ust as soon as I start releasing it, like RIGHT away. No give at all. The bike only has about 175 miles on it. I was stuck in stop and go traffic. Is this normal.
this is the first bike I have had, that I can remember, that didn't have hydrolic clutch. I would be changing out the fluid right now if it did have hydrolics.

Is it difficult to adjust? I looked at the manual but no directions how to take care of this.

There are two ways to adjust that play, but before we get into which way to go.

Did I just hear 175 miles on the bike?
Let the knuckleheads at the dealer set it up right.

I agree.. if the clutch adjustment is off..then adjusting the cable slack isnt going to help..unslee someone forgot to tighten the cable adjuster jamnut...its not hard to adjust eather of them..but i would guess the bike is still under warrenty...
