When I have to back my bike into the garage to park it the clutch seems to be dragging if the bike is in gear and I have the clutch lever pulled in. If I back it up in neutral it's easier to move. Is this normal or do I need to fine tune the clutch adjustment. The clutch cable adjustment at the lever is according to the manual. So if I need to adjust the clutch at the derby cover do I turn the adjustment screw in or out to reduce the drag on the clutch.
Check you clutch carefull only after you understand how to do it. Keep in mind, these multi disk wet clutches drag because the splines are tight on disk and bind them and oil sticks them. Mine set correct lunges fwd if started in gear and does exactly like you describe if I try to move it in gear. However, I know my is set correctly. You do not.
And if you do not know what you are doing, most have it so backed off and fail to find no play to start backoff, reduce the lever length to disengage disk and make it worst.
My guess is we
when hot, if you put in first and it only clunks, you start letting clutch out and it grabs with just a little lever out and with it off, you have a little lever freeplay at the lever that you can see with the cable connection at the lever, you are OK.

I've always adjust the clutch basket on a cold engine and use the turns required in the manual. On that note what does the HD tech do on a warm engine that just came in for servicing. Do they really wait until there is no heat in the engine?
OK first of all I know how to adjust the clutch. I've been doing it for years. I was just curious to know if the drag was normal or should I have positioned the adjusting screw slightly different. From what I've read in this thread it sounds like a bit of drag is normal. Thank you for that answer.
