What do you think of your V & H MO's clbking?
I bought a pair off of another forum but have yet to install them....
Wondering?
Do they sound sort of like this, or?
if i just add slip ons I dont need to have anything else done for the fuel injection do I. I know if you do exhaust and air cleaner or complete stage one you need to have it remapped or dyno tuned, excuse my lack of knowledge here.
I just bought a set of 4" Rineharts for my 2010 FLHTCU. I love the sound, but you definitely need to hear a set before you decide. That said, if you do want a set, go to www.kustomemporium.com ,, I found them on e bay, but you can contact them directly. I gave $520 for the set bidding through e bay. My buddy contacted them directly & bought the same set for $500. I doubt you will find them any cheaper. Nice pipes!
Went through a few before I settled on the Vance and Hines Monster Ovals. Had their basic slip ons, twin slash, and a set of Rineharts sp? All of the above sounded good, but was just too tinny for me. The Monsters are low, deep and growly. Kinda like flowmasters on your Harley. Do some you tube searches for different brands. Good place to start.
Best advice is to look at and listen to as many different brands
as you can. Then start talking to the guys on the bikes.
Trial and error can be expensive !!!!
I'd say "maybe best bang for the buck", try a set of Wild Pigs....
seems everybody on here thats tried 'em has liked 'em.
youtube: vance and hines turndowns. There are a couple clips to listen to and they are pretty accurate - I know because I recently bought a pair after hearing these video clips and my bike sounds just like them now - and I am very happy with the sound.
When I was looking for slip ons, I read several of the threads on this forum and went to you tube, and went to some of the manufacturere websites for sound clips.
Got it down to SuperTrapp SE or Jackpots. Went with the SuperTrapp because the sound clips, and threads I read agreed that they had a deeper rumble, where the Jackpots seemed more crackly.
Picked up the bike from winter storage (and the mods) and really like the sound. Fairly quite with a steady throttle (not obnoxious anyway), but has a nice sound when the throttle is put to it. This is from experience in a car beside my bike (hubby rode the bike home as I am having hand issues).
Of course I also had the Stage 1 and 204 cams put in at the same time, so some of the sound is from the other changes, and you r mileage may vary.
jkirby --- In my opinion, the best bang for your buck will be Rush slip-ons. You can get different size (diameter) baffles, for more "loud." I went with the biggest --- the 2.5" baffle. Nice bagger sound, but not that obnoxious loud. You're buddies won't have any problem riding behind you. They're pretty common, so if you go to a bike night or to a dealer on a nice Saturday morning, you probably won't have any problem finding an Ultra with Rush slip-ons. You can also put on some headphones, and go to YouTube, type in Rush Pipes, and listen to some of them. Depending on the microphone used, etc, etc, etc, they might sound a little different from one sound clip to another, but it'll be pretty close, and you'll get the idea. From what I understand, you won't have to get tuned on a dyno or anything like that either. Go with the Rush Big Louie and a 2.5 baffle. (Big Louie is the new 4" muffler body. The original is a 3.5" muffler body.) Just an opinion. Lots of guys will disagree.

Get a set of XIED's or VIED's from nightrider.com. Bikes run too lean from the factory even B4 you modify them. Your bike will run cooler.
