Default Saddle bag speaker questions

I like the look of the batwing fairings but I think I like the look of the road king without.
My question is are saddle bag speakers alone loud enough to hear at highay speeds.
Thanks
John.

Default saddlebag speakers...

I don't have personal experience, but those that do have told me they are no good at highway speeds. Contact Dr. V-Twin and I'm sure he can fill you in.

Save yourself the trouble and just hook up the front end amp/speakers... You (the rider) won't hear the rear ones anyway... add in a 4 channel amp with some lower speakers in if you want it LOUD!!!

Just my 2¢

I started out with 6x9 speakers in my hard bags and a 4 channel 1000 watt amp. Couldn't hear anything at highway speed, too much wind. Added cycle sounds speakers to the handle bars and a windshield. Now I can hear the music at any speed. Never did try just the hard bag speakers and a windshield, may have worked. The 1000 watt amp is overkill, I got it because it has a built in fan, which I wanted since the amp was going to be in bottom of my extended bags. I wired the speakers in "series". This being said, my bag speakers are not lid mounted, so there is that difference.

So how about the speaker that are like 6 inches or whatever on the crash bar? Will they be loud enough with an amp or should I just make my life easier and buy the fairing?
