I have the Boom hidden antenna, it works great! Just as good or better reception compared to the stock whip antenna. I live in the midwest, so not a lot of obstructions and interference. If you install yourself, make sure the antenna curved mounting wedge is not mounted below the 1/4" max. If you exceed the 1/4" the fairing bottom will hit the antenna.

I am very happy with mine. I get better reception on my bike than in my car!

Vichendrix, Drop a note to HogTunes tech support. They put my name on a list and said they will ship me a new amp once they figure out the shielding. I was told 1-2 weeks but I suspect it'll take a little longer than that. Until then, I'll be using my shorty antenna.

I took the stock ant. and routed up along the frame. Better reception... I'm guessing because of the frame. Don't know. Anyways, I drilled the mount and tapped it so it would face straight up. You can't even see the ant unless you really are looking for it. It only cost me $2.00 for the rubber plug... Not a bad price and better reception.

I have the most recent updated boom hidden antenna and love it. It works as well as the stock antenna on my RG. When I've been out in the rural areas no lost of signal. I'm very happy with it.

Default amplified antenna

I have heard nothing but bad about the amplified antenna (needs 12v) anyone had good experience with them? i been looking on ebay, price looks good but the old adage...."ya get what cha pay for" still rings in my ear.

Installed HD Boom antenna in my 09 FLHX this spring and it's horrible. Ran shorty whip before with decent range, but the hidden unit truly doesn't perform as stated on box. Just purchased a 1-male to 2-female y-cable so I can connect the boom powered + short whip in my fairing...hoping this will do the trick...we'll see.
