Default hammock seat owners

I just bought one for my 08 SG. Put 27k on the bike with my vintage mustang solo and got tired o the butt burn and trouble walking after a long ride. I read all the great reviews on the hammock so I bought one. Honestly so far I'm not to impressed. Yes its better but not by much.

Don't anyone take this wrong. But I gotta ask. Y'all say its so comfy could it be you? In other words do ya have a few extra pounds in the *** area? Please don't take that as an insult. I'm just trying to figure out why I'm not as happy as y'all seem to be.

Jury is still out as I have yet to hit the highway. May 5th I'm heading out for a 500 mile trip to Ohio. Riding around and fonding home the 7th. So about 1500 miles in 3 days. That should be good enough to see if it was worth it.

Seats are like handlebars, what's comfy for one person is a pain in the a** for another. I have a hammock seat and I can ride all day with no butt burn. I'm 6'1", 32" inseam, 190 pounds and 56 years old. For others, it may feel like an old splintered board. Everyone goes on about how "heritage bars" are the most comfortable bars for a Road King. I hated them. I went with a low bar from Wild One with a lot of pullback that is very comfy for me but others complain about the wrist angle. All you can do is try it awhile and see what happens. I have discovered that it really isn't difficult to pull the staples out of a seat pan, remove the cover and do a little foam reshaping with a sanding disk on my electric drill. You just have to get over the fear of removing the seat cover and ruining the seat. As they say, "It ain"t rocket science." I've done several seats and haven't ruined one yet!

Thanks. Ya I'm 5'11" 225# and have a 34" waist. Not fat by any means. Was thinking that may be the issue. I know what ya mean about everyone different. I hate the stick sg bars.I think they pull you forward and cause you to hunch. I threw on +2 sweepers and man its like a new bike.

Part of it I think is sweat and then the feeling that the hair is getting ripped out of the back of my legs.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a new opinion. LOL. Just rode 3 hours non stop. Could have kept on going. Old seat I was fidgeting after an hour. Well worth the money. And I got it 100.00 off. New in box

I was going to tell you to give it a chance to break in...and you need to sit on it for awhile for it to mold to the shape of you ***....I like mine it is great for long rides...but I prefer the stock seat around town...the stock seat on my flhrc is lower to the ground and narrower in the front...but not nearly as cushy as the hammock...

Glad you like it now. Because i was gonna say: It's the only seat I've had that was enough cushion for my bad back to survive a day of riding and yet my tailbone after an hour doesn't hurt either.

It is a seat that seems to feel like it's not much better when you sit on it or just ride around, but when you ride (like you now have) for several hours on it, that's when the difference shows. I thought almost the same thing that you did when I first bought mine a couple of years ago, it felt better but not much, until I rode on it for hours, then I loved it.

I actually have my almost brand new stock seat that I had done by MCC, thinking that the hammock might not be the seat I thought when I bought it, but before I could put the MCC seat back on I took the long ride and it's been on every since. One day I will swap out the seats so I can try out the new MCC seat, but for now it's still new in the box.

Thanks for the reply guys. Ya, I'm happy now.. And yes. Ya get a little bit sore but it never passes that.. Where my Mustang solo was once you started to feel it, it only got worse. To the point I was afraid to put my feet down thinking I wouldnt be able to hold the bike up.

I need to get the backrest now. Low on funds but I'll get one in June. I have my Vintage solo for kicking around town.

Looking forward to the Ohio trip more now..
