This is how I cured the majority of the buffeting on my SG.

LRS Hawg Wings Review - Most of the buffeting cured

LRS was running a promotion where you got a free set if you ordered a windshield. Not sure if that s still going on.

Buffeting really is annoying. I have none on the RK with the stock windshield but had it bad running a "Windjammer" sport windshield on a Deuce. I found that it was actually the wind coming under the shield. There was no practical way to block the flow so I ended up replacing the shield with a H-D removable sport windshield.

HD fork deflector, 9" Clearview recurve. Very little buffeting on my 6'1" profile.

I purchased a couple used windshields at a swap meet. I cut them down a little at a time until I got to about 9". I decided that I wanted one just alittle taller. So I cut the second one to that height. Worked good for me. I look over the top. There is just enough wind to enjoy, and it still looks good.

Yeah, it would be nice if you could ask one question and have the perfect answer wouldn't it?

Unfortunately what works for one person does not work for another.

It's called "trial and error."

We all have to go through it..and it costs us all $$$.

Jest the way it is..

Deal w/it or whine about it..

You need to find where the wind is coming from. I have lowers on my SG, the fork baffle and run a 6" LRS recurve. I have a 9", but it makes for buffeting, so I went shorter to increase the air flow from the front. Amazingly, when I put the tour pak on, I start to get buffeting with the 6", but the 9" cures it. So, 6" for every day use, 9" for touring. Every change you make will alter the air flow, whether from in front, below or behind in the backdraft. Everyone needs to figure out what's best for them.

FYI - LRS will let you try any shield and return it as long as you don't remove the protective cover or damage it in any other way, you might want to talk to them ......

Do you have those Fairing wings? I cannot ride without them closed or I get immediate buffering.

I have the adjustable ones but you can get the non-adjustable for $40.

Adjustable:

Non adjustable comes in 3 shades

Mine is a 2012 CVO Ultra Classic. Stock shield is 9.5". I'm 6' 4" with only a 32" inseam which means I set well over the top of the shield. Buffeting made my eyeglasses shake and could not wear a hat. Switch to a Long Ride Shields flat top 12". Awesome, can wear a hat, smoke a stogies and no more wind. Mostly ride looking through it but I can straighten up and look over also. Perfect. Got the light tint and no problems at night.

Considering the rider's hight, I'd recommend the 8" Fast-Aire. I'm 6'1" and the 8" shield was just a little too short. I returned it and they shipped me a the 10" which worked out perfectly. the curved part at the top of the shield pushes air, bugs, etc. right over my head/helmet. Just got home from an 1800 mile trip and I only had 3 bugs on my head. I think I killed every bug between CA. and NM. with the fairing and shield!
