Question ECMs

Anyone have comparison info on HD Super Tune Pro vs MasterTune TTS? I have a ThunderMax TBW that is just now working for me and considering one of these, or even a Power Vision by Dynojet. Mods to '10 FLHTK are S&S 551 cams, Big Sucker AC, 2-1-2 header w/o cat, Rush 2.25 slip-ons, and the TMax. TMax worked great with all other mods prior to adding the cams but can't get rid of the pinging at full throttle since. TMax should be able to handle this but so far pretty frustrating. TMax techs had it for a whole day at Daytona Bike Week but could not get rid of the pinging and quit on it.

The pinging occurs around the 2500-3000 rpm range on a full throttle roll-on. Otherwise, various spots during a normal acceleration. Typically only happens at or near full throttle.

I have 257 cams which tend to have a power dip at 2400 before they kick in and the TMax took care of that pretty easy. But, the Tmax is auto tuning too lean and I might move on to something else. Target AFR is 13.5 and the thing is writing AFRs of 14.25 across my RPM range. So thinking a Harley ECM as well....But...need to find out which if any supports wide band O2 sensors. I think the hardware is fine but maybe the user software is behind the times.

What gear are you in during the full throttle roll-on?

Thanks for all the great responses. Happens in 6th gear mostly, but I have noticed it happening from 4 thru 6 on a hard accel.

The TTS and septpro are both great tuners. If you are going to tune it yourself the TTS is more user friendly. If your taking it to a dyno tuner ask him which one he is more comfortable with. Either tuner will get you to the same place if it is set up properly. I chose the TTS because it was cheeper. I bought it for 499 for a 2 bike tuner. (me and my brother split the cost, 250 @ piece) The two bike tuner will marry itself to two different serial numbers.

Is it a 96" with stock pistons and compression and what map are you running? I know the map has been modified, but what did you start with?

It is a 103, stock pistons & heads. Only mods is the cams, AC and exhaust. I started with the 187 map as it was the closest to this config. Have gone thru several iterations on applying fueling offsets with minimal improvement except in the pinging. I may try a couple other maps to see if similar results.
