"Downing beers before we leave" Geez... what time was your ride starting. Most events I attend leave in the A.M., so it'd be a little early for that. Personally, I don't attend any rides that start or stop at bars.

 

No kidding. Ride left at 1, Beer tent opened at noon...with a long long line. I would say I shouldnt blame all group rides, just that the couple I'v been on seem to follow this same pattern. Poorly organized...not well thought out...seemingly no rules...and a high blood alcohol level. I was not the only one frustrated this particular day. When I left the ride 10 minutes into the mahem several other riders followed me. I'm sure I will try a "big" ride again sometime, but you can be sure I will look closely at aggendas and rules. For me the best rides are getting lost by myself and finding that hidden gem of a diner or getting togeather with a couple of guys that are on the same page as me and tear assing to some cool place looking like the bad asses that we think we are. Truly we are closer to the "Wild Hogs" than Easy Rider! LOL Cheers fellas

 

No group rides here

 

I used to do alot of group rides. I was never worried about my safety, because I always kept the space in front and behind me that I needed and I have on many occasions bailed on a group ride if it wasn't working out for me and didn't feel the least bit bad about it. I quit doing group rides because it just wasn't fun for me. I don't ride for a social event, I ride because I love to ride.

I wouldn't hesitate to do a group ride with people I know and trust and know they want the same thing out of the ride as I do, no matter how big the group is.

But I don't care to group ride with people I don't kow or know what their intent for the ride that day is.
