Windshield threads have become the new oil threads. You should do a search, there is plenty of reading to do on SG buffeting. There are also many variables, so the fix for one person may not work for another. I would read up, talk to the shield vendors and start your own experimentation to find your perfect world in the seat. For me, it was a 6" recurve, fork baffle, fairing wings and lowers, others use fork deflectors with good success ...... everyone has a solution, but it may not work for you, it is really some trial and error. The first thing to determine is where the "bad" air is coming from, over the shield, under the fairing, from the back ....... ????

The windshield is a part of it, but your going to have more than one place where the wind is buffeting you. When you ride next, use your hand to follow where the wind is coming from. Lots of Street Glide folks have fork mounted wind deflectors, or the fixed lower fairing deflectors from HD or LongRideSheilds (called Hog Wings on their site).

I am 5'7" and am currently using the 6.5" Klock Werks windshield and a set of Hog Wings on my 2012 SG.

May be trying out a new Long Ride Sheild in the 7" variety soon.

Do a search for Buffeting (variation of spelling) and you should come up with some good reading.

Good Luck
Glenn

try a taller windshield assuming you are running stock. Also make sure you buy the batwing side fairing deflectors. When you buy a new windshield you better get lightly smoked or even clear, with your height you will probably be looking thru rather than over.

Try a recurve windshield, fork baffle, faring deflectors,if i really wana ride comfortable, add lowers. Lowers were best $550 ive ever spent on bike.

getting a shield the right height/and design, and some fairing deflectors or fork deflectors like others have said will usually get you nice and comfy

Check you local HD dealer see if they are doing klock works and Harley shield demos. Try a few see what works best for you. Also try a sunglass tether to tighten up the glasses. I ride with prescription glasses and mine moved like crazy till I did that.

Measure from the center hole on your fairing to the top of the shield. Then tell us where the shield comes to on your face. If you go with something like a "recurve" shield you want the top of the shield about where your upper lip is. I'm shooting from the hip here but based on your height, probably a 6" recurve shield and some fairing deflectors would do the trick for you. You can take a look at our site if you want, we're running a special on Hawg Wings (fairing deflectors). If you buy any windshield we'll throw in a set of hawg wings free. HD members discount not applicable on that one. But a shield and those deflectors will make a world of difference. Not bashing either company, but I can't tell you the number of people that by a HD shield or other brand and end up calling us.
