Default Tell the difference

I have a buddy who picked up a 05 Ultra that had a 103" kit installed, high dome pistons with HTTC heads and a TM tuner. Heads took a dump so he rebuilt motor, left at 103" but replaced with flat top pistons and stock heads. It really didnt run to well when he picked up, suspected heads, after rebuild cant get dam thing to run even half way decent. We've tried various maps and no luck. Starting to question throttle body or injectors. We've swapped O2 sensors with mine, no luck. How can one tell what type of throttle body is on the bike, and, has anyone tested the injectors. With the different maps, we've gone anywhere from running too rich to too lean, it never idles. Any suggestions. The only numbers are hand scribbed on the bottom, and they are 27600-01A-3034C.

I agree. The IAC/TPS initialization is critical to proper operation. Wonder if that is playing into this for one or both of the cases mentioned in this thread.

My '07 103" is making 114/120 with a stock throttle body and injectors. A 58mm throttle body on a 103 seems like overkill to me, but I'm sure the engineers at HD know more than most.
stock as in 46MM or SE 50MM? I think a non SE 07 has a 46MM. 50MM would be a nice fit. a 58MM on stock 88/96/103 heads will over hang the head inlets....so sure...lots of potential for air leaks...then there's the issue of cracking flange brackets....folks are swaping out the stock brackets for super duper ones.

how do you suggest to find an air leak. I took the air cleaner off put my hand over the front of the tb and the engine was going to stall. took some propane and with the engine running put it around the flanges and where the tb attaches to the intake, and there was no change in the engine.

i was suggesting partially covering the opening of the TB, like 1/4 of it and see then if the idle smooths out.

if it did that may indicate the TB diameter is large enough so that air velocity is low.

Well guys I was in Laconia last week for bike week went to the Thundermax booth in Meredith and all I can say is WOW!!! My bike runs F$^#*%G UNBELIEVABLE!! Dan the owner of TM spent a couple hours over two days tuning the bike, I guess the wrong map was put in he put in a new map did a little tweaking and the bike is awesome . No more warm up issues with stumbling, bike seems like its got 20 hp! However Dan did say there is a very small air leak in the throttle plate but he said the bike runs good leave it alone. I guess the TB lacks precision in the machining of the throttle plate and bore.

Had the same problem. I fixed it by changing the fuel to 10% ethenol. Works great now.

I'm having no issues with my TB. I did the stage4 race kit as well.
