Default 2012 FLHT Handlebars

I have a 2012 FLHTK Ultra Limited. I want to change the stock handlebars from 8 inches to 10 or 12 inches. Has anyone done this and re-installed the stock heated grips? My HD dealer says you can't do this. If not, why not?

TIA

Mark

Probably because the wires are not long enough. Did you ask him?

I just put a set of KW +2 sweepers on a 10 FLHTK with heated grips and there was just enough length for the heated grip wiring. These bars are 2" further back. So if you went with 10" bars (I believe stock is 8 on the ultras) you should have just enough wiring. If you went higher you could extend the wiring for the heated grips, shouldn't be hard to do as it would be like any other wiring.
